Express your creativity

creativityOur world today is a very different place than where our grandparents were born to. Yes there is hardship all around us and we have been living through some tough times in the past decade. But at the same time, we have more opportunities and recourses than the generations before us had. We have knowledge at our fingertips. Learning is slowly moving from a classroom into our computer screens. I actually believe the education and academic system we have in place will have a massive shakedown in the years to come as it is missing the broader spectrum, but that is a debate for another day 😉

As a result of these changes, the world has become a crazy busy place. Today people work as hard as ever, if not even harder in some cases. The human brain is pushed harder and further than in the past. Also we sleep less and less, we work hard and play hard. It is taking a toll on our health, but the modern medicine is getting better at coming up with more effective “plasters”. Doctors in general describe you medicine for life threatening conditions that could have been fixed with just proper diet and exercise.

In this busy world we live in, I’d like to ask you a question. When was the last time you expressed yourself creatively? When was the last time you drew something? wrote something creative? sang a song? The possibilities are endless. In my world creativity is a daily occurrence and I could not imagine my life without it. But even if creative expression is not part of your job, you should not just brush it away. I believe being able to express yourself creatively has a much bigger impact on us than we understand. I believe it is a basic need we have as human beings, and without it we will not feel fulfilled. I also believe it has healing qualities and allows us to unwind in ways that no amount of TV can ever do.

So I challenge you in the next few weeks, go out and express your creativity. What ever it is you want to do, no matter how good or bad at it think you are, just let that creativity out, let yourself feel like a child again.
